David S. Hogan
David S. Hogan has been entertaining audiences on stage and screen for more than two decades, and if there’s one constant in his career, it’s a knack for diving headfirst into bold, memorable roles. Seattle audiences first knew him from the stage, with performances at Book-It Repertory Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Seattle Opera, and Seattle Shakespeare Company. In 2013, he strapped on the crown for Henry V with Wooden O, where The Seattle Times hailed his “clear, resonant voice” and “confident bearing that radiate strength and determination.” Drama in the Hood was equally smitten, declaring his famous St. Crispin’s Day Speech “flawless” and worthy of its mid-show applause.
Of course, David doesn’t just do kings. In Seattle Shakespeare’s delightfully rowdy “trailer park” Taming of the Shrew, his karate-jumping Grumio had City Arts Blog calling him “an absolute gem” whose antics earned as many laughs as Shakespeare’s wit.
By 2011, David’s focus shifted to film and television, where he booked projects at a rapid clip: Thunderballs (network pilot), Shadowed, and All My Presidents kicked things off, and soon he was making his network debut on NBC’s Grimm. From there, he stacked up credits including Z Nation, Bad Samaritan, The Parish, Chronoception, Rockaway, All Those Small Things, Going Home, and the upcoming feature films My Face, Mr. Bleachers, Starr & Angel. He’s also no stranger to producing, writing, and starring in his own projects, like the award-winning short A Trapdoor (produced with and starring his wife, Angela DiMarco) and his gritty Western drama, Rough Ways (currently in post).
Accolades have followed him along the way: he’s a three-time Seattle Times Footlight Award winner (2002, 2009, 2012) and a Gypsy Rose Lee Award recipient for Excellence in a Acting (2012).
When he’s not acting, David is teaching, coaching, and building creative community. Since 2008, he’s been guiding actors as a coach and consultant, drawing on his own training and decades of experience. In 2012, he and his wife, founded Mighty Tripod Productions/Mighty Tripod Acting Studio, where they’ve mentored hundreds of artists while making films of their own.
David is represented by Melissa Baldauf at Big Fish NW Talent.
